چکیده

In article number 2006298, Tomonori Saito, Diana Hun, Peng-Fei Cao, and co-workers develop a series of autonomous self-healable elastomers with excellent mechanical properties unprecedented adhesion force. The self-healing process is water-insensitive, the strength negligibly affected by dust on substrate. developed elastomer could enable wide range applications enhanced longevity versatility, including their use in sealants, adhesives, stretchable devices.

Accelerated SelfHealing Via Ternary Interpenetrating Microvascular Networks

Self-healing materials with dual interpenetrating microvascular networks enable two-part healing chemistries and repeated healing of damage in a localized region. [ 1 ] However, due to slow healing kinetics, multiple days are required between damage events to recover mechanical performance under ambient conditions. By directly writing a third interdigitated microvascular network within these ep...

Measurement of adhesion between soft elastomers

The JKR (Johnson–Kendall–Roberts) method is widely used to measure the work of adhesion between soft materials. In this article, the JKR theory is summarized and three-dimensionless parameters are proposed to design a proper JKR experiment. The study of adhesion between two commonly used soft elastomers PDMS (Sylgard 184) and Ecofl ex 0300 are obtained with the measured pull-in and pull-off for...

Enhanced adhesion of bioinspired nanopatterned elastomers via colloidal surface assembly.

We describe a scalable method to fabricate nanopatterned bioinspired dry adhesives using colloidal lithography. Close-packed monolayers of polystyrene particles were formed at the air/water interface, on which polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) was applied. The order of the colloidal monolayer and the immersion depth of the particles were tuned by altering the pH and ionic strength of the water. Initi...

Staphylococcus epidermidis adhesion on modified urea/urethane elastomers.

Block urea/urethane co-polymer films present elastomeric properties with the possible tuning of their surface properties within a wide range and are therefore considered relevant surfaces for possible medical applications. In particular, thin free standing films of urea/urethane elastomers with two soft segments, polypropylene oxide and more hydrophobic polybutadiene, develop multistable states...
